Erica Jenkin is a documentary filmmaker who has produced films for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, National Geographic and The Economist. She specialises in sensitive and challenging subject matter, combining journalistic rigour with an intimate, cinematic approach.
Her directorial debut, 'Japan's Secret Shame', explored sexual violence through the prism of journalist Shiori Ito's harrowing experience of the criminal justice system in Japan. The film was broadcast on the BBC in 2018, and was nominated for the Royal Television Society Journalism Awards.
Erica has gone on to direct long-form films for the BBC and Channel 4. Her work has been nominated for the Grierson Awards, The Edinburgh TV Festival Awards and the Edinburgh Festival New Voice Awards.
